Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Ribeye

Sprinkle salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh rosemary evenly over both sides of the ribeye steak. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a cast iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Add the ribeye steak to the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a golden-brown crust forms. Flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer to achieve your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and chop the russet potatoes into even chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.

  2. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Bring the pot of water to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook the potatoes for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are fork-tender.

  3. 7

    Add Garlic

During the last 5 minutes of boiling, add the whole garlic cloves to the pot to soften.

  4. 8

    Drain and Mash

Once cooked, drain the potatoes and garlic. Return them to the pot and add butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  5. 9

    Serve

Spoon the garlic mashed potatoes onto a plate and serve alongside the sliced ribeye steak.
