Cook Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
- 3
Drain Pasta

Making the Marinara Sauce

Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.

Add Tomatoes and Spices
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

Simmer Sauce
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. Allow it to cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- 7
Add Fresh Basil
Once the sauce is thickened, stir in the fresh basil leaves and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
