Meatball Mixture

Method

Preparing the Meatballs

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined but do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape the Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill the Meatballs

Refrigerate the meatballs for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Cooking the Meatballs

  1. 4

    Brown the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan, and cook for about 5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove the meatballs and set aside.

Preparing the Sauce

  1. 5

    Cook the Onions

In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 6

    Add the Tomatoes and Spices

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and add the dried oregano, salt, sugar, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  3. 7

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Finishing the Dish

  1. 8

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Add the browned meatballs back into the skillet with the sauce. Cover and simmer for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the meatballs to absorb the flavors.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve the mini meatballs hot, garnished with extra parsley or Parmesan if desired.
