Crab Cake Mixture

Cooking

Method

Prepare the Crab Cake Mixture

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, gently combine the lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, chopped green onions, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to break up the crab meat too much.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and make the mixture easier to handle.

Form and Cook the Crabcakes

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Allow the oil to heat until shimmering.

  2. 4

    Form the Crabcakes

Using your hands, take about 2-3 tablespoons of the chilled crab mixture and form it into a small patty. Repeat until all the mixture is used.

  3. 5

    Cook the Crabcakes

Carefully place the formed crab cakes into the hot skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.

  4. 6

    Serve

Once cooked, remove the crabcakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil. Serve warm with lemon wedges on the side.
