For Classic Fried Calamari

    Prepare the Calamari

    Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

    In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.

    Coat the Calamari

    Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture until well coated.

    Heat the Oil

    In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).

    Fry the Calamari

    Carefully add the coated calamari to the hot oil, frying in batches for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

    Serve the fried calamari hot with marinara sauce on the side.
