Method
Meatloaf Preparation
- 1
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, milk, eggs, diced onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until just combined.
- 3
Shape the Meatloaf
Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf. If desired, you can also shape it freeform on a baking sheet.
- 4
Wrap with Bacon
Carefully wrap the bacon slices around the meatloaf, overlapping slightly to ensure coverage.
- 5
Bake the Meatloaf
Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
Gravy or Sauce Preparation
- 6
- 7
Add Broth
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Bring to a simmer to thicken.
- 8
Season the Gravy
Add salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- 9
Prepare Tomato Sauce (Optional)
If you prefer tomato sauce, combine the tomato sauce with sugar and heat in a separate saucepan until warm.
