Fried Chicken Directions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken pieces and ensure they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix together the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 10-15 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your choice of sides.
