Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Filet Mignon

In a small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 2

    Coat the Meat

Place the filet mignon pieces in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the meat, ensuring it is evenly coated. Cover the dish or seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (around 450°F to 500°F). If using a broiler, preheat the broiler.

  2. 4

    Remove from Marinade

Take the filet mignon out of the marinade and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before grilling.

  3. 5

    Grill the Filet Mignon

Place the filet mignon on the hot grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side for medium-rare, then flip and grill for another 4-5 minutes on the other side.

  4. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should read 130°F to 135°F. Adjust the cooking time according to your preferred doneness.

  5. 7

    Rest the Meat

Remove the filet mignon from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.
