Shrimp Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Shrimp
In a bowl, combine the large shrimp with lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the shrimp are evenly coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Breading
- 2
Prepare the Breading Station
Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one for the flour, one for the beaten eggs, and one for the breadcrumbs mixed with cayenne pepper (if using).
- 3
Bread the Shrimp
Remove the marinated shrimp from the refrigerator. First, dredge each shrimp in the flour, shaking off the excess. Then, dip the shrimp into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the shrimp with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place the breaded shrimp on a plate and set aside.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it bubbles and browns quickly, the oil is ready.
- 5
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried shrimp to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
