Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Clams

Place the clams in a bowl of cold water with a bit of salt. Let them soak for about 30 minutes to an hour to help remove sand and grit. Rinse them thoroughly under cold running water.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Sauté Garlic

In a large pot or skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.

  2. 3

    Add Clams and Wine

Add the cleaned clams to the pot, followed by the white wine. Stir gently to combine. Cover the pot and allow the clams to steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until they have opened. Discard any clams that do not open.

  3. 4

    Make the Sauce

Once the clams are open, stir in the chopped parsley, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serving

  1. 5

    Serve the Dish

Transfer the clams and sauce to a serving dish. Garnish with lemon wedges and additional parsley leaves if desired. Serve immediately with crusty bread or over pasta.
