Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Clams

Rinse the fresh clams under cold water to remove any sand or grit. Soak them in a bowl of water for about 30 minutes, then drain and rinse again.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the onion is translucent.

  3. 3

    Add Tomato and Wine

Stir in the tomato puree and white wine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Season the Sauce

Add red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to the sauce. Adjust the seasoning to your taste.

  5. 5

    Cook the Clams

Add the cleaned clams to the skillet. Cover and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the clams open up. Discard any clams that do not open.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the clams before serving. Serve hot with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
