Preparation Steps
- 1
Cook the Noodles
Boil the lasagna noodles in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Meat Sauce
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until translucent. Add ground beef (or vegetarian meat substitute), Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned. Mix in marinara sauce and let simmer for 10 minutes.
- 3
Mix the Cheese Filling
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- 4
Assemble the Lasagna
In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of noodles on top, followed by a layer of the ricotta mixture, and a layer of mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, finishing with meat sauce and topping with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Bake
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
