Corn Dog Ingredients
Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Hot Dogs
Insert wooden skewers into each hot dog, pushing them in until the skewer is about halfway through the sausage.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Batter the Hot Dogs
Dip each skewered hot dog into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Corn Dogs
Carefully place the battered hot dogs into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the corn dogs from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite condiments.
