Churro Dough

For Frying and Dusting

Method

Preparing the Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Heat the Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture reaches a boil, remove it from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes. Then, add 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition until the dough is smooth and shiny.

Frying the Churros

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep saucepan or pot, heat 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Prepare the Piping Bag

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.

  3. 6

    Fry the Churros

Carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil. Fry the churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Use tongs or a slotted spoon to turn them as needed.

  4. 7

    Drain the Churros

Remove the fried churros from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Dusting the Churros

  1. 8

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

  2. 9

    Coat the Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly.
