Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the steak

Trim any excess fat from the flank steak. Slice it thinly against the grain into strips about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Prep the vegetables

Wash and core the bell peppers, then slice them into thin strips. Peel and slice the onion into thin wedges. Mince the garlic cloves.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Marinate the steak

In a bowl, combine the sliced steak with soy sauce, black pepper, cumin, oregano, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

  2. 4

    Heat the pan

In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 5

    Cook the steak

Add the marinated steak to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until browned, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until cooked through. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.

  4. 6

    Sauté the vegetables

In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers, onion, and minced garlic. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

  5. 7

    Combine and serve

Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables, tossing everything together. Adjust seasoning with salt and additional black pepper if needed. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, then serve hot.
