Method

Chicharron de Cerdo

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Rinse the pork belly and cut it into small chunks. Pat dry with a paper towel.

  2. 2

    Season the Pork

In a bowl, mix the pork chunks with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, ensuring all pieces are coated.

  3. 3

    Fry the Pork

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned pork and fry until golden and crispy, about 15-20 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Arroz y Habichuelas

  1. 4

    Cook the Rice

In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the white rice and a pinch of salt. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 18-20 minutes or until rice is tender.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Beans

In a separate pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent. Add the black beans, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.

  3. 6

    Combine Rice and Beans

Once the rice is done, fluff it with a fork and serve with the black beans on top or on the side.

Ensalada

  1. 7

    Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the chopped lettuce, diced tomato, and sliced cucumber.

  2. 8

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle olive oil and vinegar over the salad. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and toss to combine.

Sweet Plantains

  1. 9

    Prepare the Plantains

Peel the ripe plantains and cut them diagonally into thick slices.

  2. 10

    Fry the Plantains

In a frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the plantain slices until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Soda

  1. 11

    Serve the Soda

Chill the soda cans and serve with the meal.
