Main Dish

1. Prepare the Bistec

Slice the beef steak into thin strips. Season with salt, pepper, and soy sauce. Set aside for 15 minutes to marinate.

2. Cook the Bistec

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic, sliced onions, and bell peppers. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.

3. Combine Ingredients

Add the marinated steak to the skillet and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the steak is cooked through. Adjust seasoning if needed.

Rice and Beans

In a medium saucepan, combine the white rice, water, cumin, and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender.

5. Add Beans

Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and stir in the black beans. Allow to heat through for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Sweet Plantains

6. Prepare Plantains

Peel the ripe plantains and slice them diagonally into 1-inch pieces.

7. Fry the Plantains

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the plantain slices until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Salad

8. Mix the Salad

In a large bowl, combine chopped lettuce, diced tomato, and sliced cucumber.

9. Dress the Salad

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Pour over the salad and toss to coat.
