Fried Pork Chops (Chuletas Fritas)

Prepare the Chops
In a bowl, season the pork chops with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Fry the Chops
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the pork chops for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Rice and Beans (Arroz y Habichuelas)

Prepare the Rice
Rinse the white rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a pot, combine the rice, 4 cups of water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.

Sweet Plantains (Maduros)

Prepare the Plantains
Peel the ripe plantains and slice them diagonally into about 1-inch thick pieces.

Fry the Plantains
In a frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the plantain slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and caramelized. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Salad (Ensalada)

Prepare the Salad
In a large bowl, toss together the chopped lettuce, diced tomato, and sliced cucumber. Drizzle with olive oil and vinegar, and sprinkle with salt to taste. Mix well.
Soda

Serve the Soda
Chill the 12 oz cans of soda in the refrigerator before serving. Serve alongside the meal.
