Onion Ring Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix with cold water. Gradually add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
Bread the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, letting excess drip off. Then coat the rings in breadcrumbs. Place breaded rings on a baking sheet.
Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully add the breaded onion rings to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
