For the Beef

Method

Preparing the Beef

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.

  2. 2

    Add Onion and Garlic

Once the beef is browned, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.

  3. 3

    Season the Beef

Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and cook for an additional 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Preparing the Queso

  1. 4

    Melt Cream Cheese

In a medium saucepan over low heat, add the cream cheese. Stir frequently until melted and smooth.

  2. 5

    Add Cheeses and Milk

Gradually add the sharp cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese to the melted cream cheese, stirring until fully melted. Slowly pour in the milk to reach your desired consistency.

  3. 6

    Incorporate Jalapeños and Salsa

Mix in the diced jalapeños and salsa into the cheese mixture. Stir until well combined and heated through.

  4. 7

    Combine with Beef

Add the seasoned beef mixture to the queso and stir until fully combined. Heat through until everything is warm.

  5. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the queso to a serving dish, and garnish with chopped cilantro. Serve warm with tortilla chips.
