Cook the Spaghetti
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

Cook the Ground Beef
Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 7-10 minutes.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. If using, add red wine. Bring the sauce to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine and Serve
Toss the cooked spaghetti with the meat sauce until well coated. Serve in bowls, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
