Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Mixing the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Then, add olive oil and salt.
- 2
Forming the Dough
Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the yeast mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- 3
Kneading
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Rising
Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembling the Pizza
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to its highest setting, usually around 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 6
Rolling the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out to your desired thickness.
- 7
Adding Sauce and Cheese
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them evenly over the sauce.
- 8
Baking the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the hot pizza stone). Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 9
Finishing Touches
Remove the pizza from the oven and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt to taste and add fresh basil leaves on top.
- 10
Serving
Slice the pizza and serve hot, enjoying the fresh flavors of the Margherita.
