Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks and season both sides generously with salt and black pepper. Allow them to rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Ensure it is hot before cooking the steaks.

Making the Honey Garlic Sauce

  1. 3

    Mince the Garlic

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves.

  2. 4

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and ginger. Mix well and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

  3. 5

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Once the sauce is simmering, slowly whisk in the slurry and continue cooking until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 6

    Cook the Steaks

Place the seasoned steaks on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 7

    Glaze with Sauce

During the last minute of cooking, brush the honey garlic sauce over the steaks to glaze them. Allow the sauce to caramelize slightly.

  3. 8

    Rest the Steaks

Once cooked, remove the steaks from heat and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Serving

  1. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Slice the steaks against the grain, drizzle with extra honey garlic sauce, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
