For the Gochujang Sauce

For the Crab Cakes

Method

Prepare the Gochujang Sauce

  1. 1

    Mix the Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, and water. Mix well until smooth and set aside.

Make the Crab Cakes

  1. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, add the fresh crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, chopped green onions, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Gently fold the ingredients together until well combined, being careful not to break up the crab meat too much.

  2. 3

    Form the Cakes

Using your hands, form the mixture into small patties, about 2 inches in diameter. You should be able to make around 8-10 crab cakes.

  3. 4

    Chill the Cakes

Place the formed crab cakes on a baking sheet and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.

Cook the Crab Cakes

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Cook the Cakes

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the crab cakes to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.

  3. 7

    Serve

Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Serve warm with the gochujang sauce drizzled on top or on the side for dipping.
