Brisket Marinade

Toppings

Method

Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, black pepper, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, liquid smoke, and apple cider vinegar until well combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Brisket

Place the beef brisket in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the brisket, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Cooking the Brisket

  1. 3

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. 4

    Prepare the Brisket for Cooking

Remove the brisket from the marinade and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Discard the marinade.

  3. 5

    Cook the Brisket

Place the brisket in a roasting pan, fat side up. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and roast in the preheated oven for about 3 to 4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.

  4. 6

    Rest and Slice

Once cooked, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. Slice against the grain into thin strips.

Assembly and Serving

  1. 7

    Prepare the Toppings

While the brisket is resting, chop the fresh cilantro, thinly slice the red onion, and cut the lime into wedges.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the sliced brisket on a platter, garnished with fresh cilantro and red onion. Serve with lime wedges and a side of sour cream.
