Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare Ramekins

Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour to prevent the cakes from sticking.

  3. 3

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and semi-sweet chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  4. 4

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and egg yolks until well combined and slightly thickened.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously until fully combined.

  6. 6

    Add Remaining Ingredients

Fold in the all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt gently until just combined.

  7. 7

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  8. 8

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  9. 9

    Cool Slightly

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool for 1-2 minutes.

  10. 10

    Invert and Serve

Carefully invert each ramekin onto a dessert plate. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
