Cake Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined and smooth.

  6. 6

    Pour and Bake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Beat the Butter

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter until creamy and smooth.

  2. 9

    Add Sugar and Cream

Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined. Then add the heavy cream and vanilla extract.

  3. 10

    Whip the Frosting

Increase the speed to high and beat for about 3-5 minutes until the frosting is light and fluffy.

  4. 11

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a layer of frosting between the two layers. Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
