Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Start by washing the ripe tomatoes and fresh basil leaves thoroughly under running water.
- 2
Slice the Tomatoes
Cut the tomatoes into thick slices, about 1/2 inch thick. If the tomatoes are particularly large, you may need to cut them into smaller sections.
- 3
Slice the Mozzarella
Slice the fresh mozzarella into similar thickness as the tomatoes, approximately 1/2 inch thick.
Assembly
- 4
Layer the Ingredients
On a large serving platter, alternate layers of tomato slices and mozzarella slices, slightly overlapping them for a beautiful presentation.
- 5
Add Fresh Basil
Tuck fresh basil leaves in between the layers of tomato and mozzarella as you go, ensuring a good distribution of flavor.
Dressing
- 6
Drizzle the Dressing
In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic glaze, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle the mixture generously over the assembled salad.
- 7
Serve
Serve the Caprese Salad immediately, garnished with additional basil leaves if desired.
