Pico de Gallo Ingredients

Method

Pico de Gallo Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Start by washing the fresh tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño pepper under cold running water. Remove the stems from the tomatoes and jalapeño.

  2. 2

    Chop the Tomatoes

Dice the tomatoes into small pieces. Aim for a size that is uniform for even distribution in the pico de gallo. Place the diced tomatoes in a mixing bowl.

  3. 3

    Dice the Onion

Peel the onion and chop it finely. Add the diced onion to the mixing bowl with the tomatoes.

  4. 4

    Chop the Cilantro

Rinse the cilantro under cold water, shake off excess water, and chop it finely. Add the cilantro to the mixing bowl.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Jalapeño

Carefully slice the jalapeño pepper in half lengthwise, then remove the seeds for less heat (or keep them in for more heat). Finely dice the jalapeño and add it to the mixing bowl.

  6. 6

    Mix the Ingredients

In the mixing bowl, combine all the chopped ingredients: tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and jalapeño.

  7. 7

    Add Lime Juice and Salt

Pour the lime juice over the mixture and sprinkle with salt. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients well.

  8. 8

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the pico de gallo and adjust the seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or lime juice according to your preference.

  9. 9

    Serve

Transfer the pico de gallo into a serving dish. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled meats.
