Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 2

    Cook the Noodles

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the meat is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  4. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  5. 5

    Prepare Cheese Filling

In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Layer 1

Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. 7

    Layer 2

Place 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce.

  3. 8

    Layer 3

Spread half of the cheese filling over the noodles.

  4. 9

    Layer 4

Add a layer of meat sauce over the cheese filling.

  5. 10

    Repeat Layers

Repeat the layering process (noodles, cheese filling, meat sauce) until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce.

  6. 11

    Final Topping

Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

Baking

  1. 12

    Bake

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

  2. 13

    Uncover and Brown

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  3. 14

    Rest

Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
