Fried Pickle Chips

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the sliced pickles from their jar and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This will help the batter stick better.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, set up your breading station. In the first bowl, add the all-purpose flour mixed with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. In the second bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs and milk. In the third bowl, add the cornmeal.

  3. 3

    Bread the Pickles

Take a pickle chip and first coat it in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it in the cornmeal. Set aside on a plate. Repeat this process with all the pickle chips.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature with a kitchen thermometer.

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully add the breaded pickle chips in batches to the hot oil, taking care not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the fried pickle chips hot with your signature ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
