Method

Prepare Matcha

  1. 1

    Sift the Matcha

In a small bowl, sift 2 teaspoons of matcha powder to remove any clumps for a smoother drink.

  2. 2

    Add Hot Water

Pour 60 ml of hot water (not boiling) over the sifted matcha powder.

  3. 3

    Whisk

Using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a frother, whisk the matcha vigorously in a zigzag motion until it is frothy and well combined.

Add Milk (if desired)

  1. 4

    Choose Your Milk

Select your preferred milk option from whole milk, almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk.

  2. 5

    Heat or Chill the Milk

If serving hot, heat 100 ml of your chosen milk to a warm temperature. For iced matcha, chill the milk in the refrigerator or pour over ice.

  3. 6

    Combine with Matcha

Pour the heated or chilled milk over the prepared matcha base and stir gently to combine.

Sweeten (if desired)

  1. 7

    Add Sweetener

If you wish to sweeten your matcha, add honey, maple syrup, or stevia to taste. Stir well to incorporate.

Serve

  1. 8

    Final Touch

Taste your matcha and adjust sweetness or milk as desired. Serve hot in a mug or pour over ice for an iced version.
