Method

Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the crust

In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated with butter.

  2. 2

    Form the crust

Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan evenly. Use the back of a measuring cup to pack it tightly. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes, then let it cool.

Cheesecake Filling Preparation

  1. 3

    Mix the filling

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the sugar, sour cream, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

  2. 4

    Add eggs

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing on low speed until just blended. Be careful not to overmix.

  3. 5

    Pour into crust

Pour the cheesecake filling over the cooled crust in the springform pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.

  4. 6

    Bake the cheesecake

Bake in a preheated oven at 325°F (160°C) for 55-70 minutes, or until the center is set but slightly jiggly. Turn off the oven and let the cheesecake cool in the oven with the door slightly ajar for 1 hour.

Baklava Topping Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare the topping

In a bowl, mix the chopped walnuts and ground cinnamon together.

  2. 8

    Make the honey syrup

In a small saucepan, combine the honey and water. Bring to a simmer and stir until combined, then remove from heat.

  3. 9

    Assemble the topping

Once the cheesecake has cooled, pour the melted butter over the top and then sprinkle the walnut mixture evenly. Drizzle the honey syrup over the walnuts.

  4. 10

    Chill and serve

Refrigerate the cheesecake for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Slice and enjoy!
