Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Wild Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the wild rice and vegetable broth (or water). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 45-50 minutes until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Add Mushrooms and Peppers

Add sliced mushrooms and diced green bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender and mushrooms are browned.

  4. 4

    Combine and Season

Add the cooked wild rice to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir in the slivered almonds, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring to combine all ingredients.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve warm as a delightful side dish or a hearty main course.
