Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Cherries
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the pitted cherries and granulated sugar. Stir occasionally until the cherries are softened and the sugar has dissolved, about 5 minutes.
- 2
Add the Alcohol
Add the Kirsch and Grand Marnier to the saucepan. Stir gently and heat for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the alcohol to warm, but do not bring to a boil.
Serving
- 3
Flambé the Cherries
Carefully ignite the mixture with a long lighter or match to flambé the cherries. Allow the flames to subside as the alcohol burns off (about 30 seconds).
- 4
Serve
Scoop vanilla ice cream into serving bowls and spoon the warm cherries and sauce over the top. Serve immediately, preferably table-side.
