Cake Layers
Method
Baking the Cake Layers
- 1
Prepare the Oven and Pans
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three 9-inch round cake pans with butter. Line the bottoms with parchment paper.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 3
Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- 4
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- 5
- 6
Divide Batter for Flavors
Divide the batter into three equal parts. For one part, mix in cocoa powder for a chocolate layer. For another, add fruit puree for a fruity layer. Leave the third part vanilla-flavored.
- 7
Bake the Layers
Pour each batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 8
Cool the Layers
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
