Cold Brew Coffee

Smoked Maple Bourbon Syrup

Method

Cold Brew Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Coffee and Water

In a large jar or pitcher, combine 1 cup of coarse ground coffee with 4 cups of cold water. Stir gently to ensure all coffee grounds are saturated.

  2. 2

    Steep the Coffee

Cover the jar or pitcher and let the mixture steep in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours for optimal flavor.

  3. 3

    Strain the Coffee

After steeping, strain the coffee through a fine mesh sieve or coffee filter into a clean container, discarding the grounds.

Smoked Maple Bourbon Syrup

  1. 4

    Mix Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of bourbon, and 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke.

  2. 5

    Heat the Syrup

Heat the saucepan over low heat, stirring gently until the mixture is well combined and heated through. This should take about 5 minutes.

  3. 6

    Cool the Syrup

Remove from heat and allow the smoked maple bourbon syrup to cool before using.

To Serve

  1. 7

    Prepare the Glass

Fill a glass with 2 cups of ice cubes, leaving room for the cold brew and syrup.

  2. 8

Pour the prepared cold brew coffee over the ice, filling the glass about 3/4 full. Add 2-4 tablespoons of the smoked maple bourbon syrup, adjusting to your taste.

  3. 9

If desired, add milk or cream to taste, and sprinkle with cinnamon.

  4. 10
