Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Add Chocolate Chips (Optional)
If desired, fold in the chocolate chips into the batter.
Cooking

Preheat Pan
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.

Cook Pancakes
For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes.

Flip and Finish Cooking
Flip the pancakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Repeat
Repeat with the remaining batter, greasing the skillet as needed.
Serving

Serve Hot
Stack the pancakes on a plate, top with butter, and drizzle with warm maple syrup. Enjoy!
