Method

Brewing the Tea

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Tea Bags and Spices

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat. Add the 4 black tea bags, 1 cinnamon stick, 4 cardamom pods, 4 cloves, 1 inch of sliced ginger, and 5 black peppercorns to the water.

  3. 3

    Steep the Mixture

Cover the saucepan and let the mixture steep for 10-15 minutes, depending on how strong you want the tea.

  4. 4

    Sweeten the Tea

After steeping, remove the tea bags and strain the mixture to remove the spices. Stir in 3 tablespoons of sugar until fully dissolved.

Cooling and Serving

  1. 5

    Cool the Tea

Let the tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour until chilled.

  2. 6

    Prepare to Serve

In a tall glass, add 2 cups of ice cubes.

  3. 7

    Combine Tea and Milk

Pour the chilled chai tea over the ice cubes, filling the glass about 3/4 full. Top with 1 cup of milk of your choice.

  4. 8

    Garnish and Enjoy

Stir gently to combine. Optionally, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick. Enjoy your iced chai tea!
