Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, add 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Spices

Once the water is boiling, add the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, ginger (sliced thinly), cloves, and black peppercorns to the boiling water. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.

  3. 3

    Add Tea

Add the black tea leaves or tea bags to the saucepan. Allow it to boil for another 2-3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Milk

Reduce the heat to low and add 1 cup of milk to the saucepan. Stir well and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

  5. 5

    Sweeten the Chai

Add sugar or your preferred sweetener to taste. Stir until fully dissolved.

  6. 6

    Strain and Serve

Remove the saucepan from heat. Strain the chai into cups using a fine mesh strainer to remove the tea leaves and spices. Serve hot.
