Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Beer Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the beer, mixing until smooth.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Batter the Cod
Dip each cod fillet into the beer batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 4
Fry the Cod
Carefully place the battered cod fillets into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Make the Coastal Slaw
In a bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, and apple cider vinegar. Toss until well coated and set aside.
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread tartar sauce on the bottom half of each sandwich bun. Place the fried cod on top, followed by a generous portion of coastal slaw. Top with the other half of the bun.
