In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly. Add melted butter, salt, and flour, then mix until a dough forms.

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and shape into a pretzel.
