Base Preparation
In a blender, combine the ice cream, milk, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.

Flavoring Addition
For a chocolate shake, add chocolate syrup to the blender and blend again until fully mixed. For a strawberry shake, add strawberry syrup instead.

Garnish the Shake
Pour the shake into a tall glass and top with whipped cream. Add chocolate shavings and a maraschino cherry on top for extra flavor and presentation.
