Pancake Batter

Method

Prepare the Pancake Batter

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

Cook the Pancakes

  1. 4

    Heat the Griddle

Preheat a non-stick griddle or frying pan over medium heat. If necessary, lightly grease it with a little butter.

  2. 5

    Pour the Batter

Using a ladle or measuring cup, pour about 1/2 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake.

  3. 6

    Cook Until Bubbles Form

Cook the pancakes for about 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface and the edges begin to look set.

  4. 7

    Flip the Pancakes

Carefully flip the pancakes using a spatula and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown on the other side.

  5. 8

    Keep Warm

Transfer the pancakes to a plate and keep warm while you repeat with the remaining batter.

Serve the Pancakes

  1. 9

    Plate the Pancakes

Stack three pancakes on a plate.

  2. 10

    Add Toppings

Drizzle maple syrup over the pancakes, top with fresh berries, a dusting of powdered sugar, and a generous dollop of whipped cream.

  3. 11

    Enjoy!

Serve immediately and enjoy your hearty stack of pancakes!
