Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Egg Mixture Preparation

In a large bowl, crack open the eggs and whisk them until well beaten.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

Add the milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, sugar, and a pinch of salt to the eggs and whisk until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Set Aside

Set the egg mixture aside to allow the flavors to meld while you prepare the Texas Toast.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Preheat Skillet

Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter, allowing it to melt and coat the pan.

  2. 5

    Dip Texas Toast

Take one half of Texas Toast and dip it into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides evenly. Let any excess egg mixture drip off.

  3. 6

    Cook Texas Toast

Place the coated Texas Toast half onto the hot skillet. Repeat this process for additional pieces, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet.

  4. 7

    Flip and Cook

Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and slightly crispy. Adjust the heat as necessary to prevent burning.

  5. 8

    Transfer to Plate

Once cooked, transfer the French Toast to a warm plate and cover with foil to keep warm.

  6. 9

    Repeat Cooking

Add the remaining butter to the skillet and repeat the dipping and cooking process for the remaining Texas Toast halves.

  7. 10

    Serve

Serve the French Toast warm with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar on top, to taste.
