French Toast Egg in the Nest

Method

French Toast Egg in the Nest

  1. 1

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Slice the Bread

Using a cookie cutter or a small glass, cut a hole in the center of each slice of bread.

  3. 3

    Cook the French Toast

In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated, and place in the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Add the Egg

Carefully crack an egg into the hole of each slice of French toast. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the egg is set to your liking.

  5. 5

    Finish Cooking

Flip the French toast carefully if desired, adding more butter as needed. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Bacon Jam

  1. 6

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  2. 7

    Sauté the Onion

In the same skillet, remove excess grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.

  3. 8

    Combine Ingredients

Crumble the bacon into the skillet with the onions. Add brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

  4. 9

    Simmer

Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes until thickened. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Hash Browns

  1. 10

    Prepare the Potatoes

In a bowl, combine grated potatoes, grated onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  2. 11

    Fry the Hash Browns

In a skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the potato mixture in an even layer and press down slightly.

  3. 12

    Cook Until Golden

Cook for 5-7 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes on the other side.
