Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Whisk together until well combined.

  2. 2

    Heat Milk and Butter

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter over medium heat until the butter melts. Allow to cool slightly until warm, not hot.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry

Add the warm milk mixture and 1 large egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Filling Mixture

In a medium bowl, mix together 1 cup of brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon. Set aside.

  2. 6

    Prepare Apples and Pecans

Chop 1 cup of pecans and dice 2 cups of apples. Set them aside for later use.

  3. 7

    Roll Out Dough

After the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 16x12 inches.

  4. 8

    Add Filling

Spread 1 cup of softened unsalted butter over the rolled dough, then sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture, followed by the chopped pecans and diced apples.

Rolling and Baking

  1. 9

    Roll the Dough

Starting from the longer side, tightly roll the dough into a log and cut it into 12 equal pieces.

  2. 10

    Prepare for Baking

Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with a cloth, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

  3. 11

    Bake Rolls

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 12

    Make Cream Cheese Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat together 8 oz of cream cheese, 4 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter, 2 cups of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

  2. 13

    Frost the Rolls

Once the rolls are baked and slightly cooled, generously spread the cream cheese frosting over the top.
