Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients
Finely chop the onion, dice the carrot and celery, and mince the garlic cloves. Set aside.
Cook the Vegetables
In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Brown the Meat
Add the ground beef and ground pork to the skillet. Increase heat to medium-high and cook until the meat is browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, for about 8-10 minutes.
Incorporate the Tomato Ingredients
Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Bring to a simmer.
Add Broth and Seasonings
Pour in the beef broth, and add dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cook the Spaghetti
While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in a pot of salted boiling water. Drain and set aside.
Combine and Serve
Once the sauce has thickened, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve the Bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
