Pork Shanks

Method

Preparing the Pork Shanks

  1. 1

    Seasoning the Pork

In a large bowl, combine the mini pork shanks with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the seasoning evenly on all sides of the pork shanks.

  2. 2

    Searing the Pork

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a drizzle of oil. Once hot, add the seasoned pork shanks and sear on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from heat and set aside.

Making the Asian BBQ Sauce

  1. 3

    Combining Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, sesame oil, and sriracha sauce. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Simmering the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Cooking the Pork Shanks

  1. 5

    Slow Cooking

Place the seared pork shanks in a slow cooker and pour the prepared Asian BBQ sauce over them. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the pork is tender and falls off the bone.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plating the Dish

Once cooked, carefully remove the pork shanks from the slow cooker and place them on a serving platter. Drizzle additional BBQ sauce over the top.

  2. 7

    Garnishing

Sprinkle chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds on top of the pork shanks for garnish before serving.
