Method

Prepare the Red Onion Marmelade

  1. 1

    Cook the Onions

In a saucepan over medium heat, add the sliced red onions and cook until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Sugar and Vinegar

Stir in the sugar, red wine vinegar, and salt. Cook on low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and becomes syrupy.

Make the Red Wine Butter

  1. 3

    Mix Butter and Wine

In a small bowl, combine the softened butter and red wine until well blended. Set aside.

Cook the Burger Patty

  1. 4

    Form Patties

In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into two equal patties.

  2. 5

    Cook Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 7

    Add Cheese and Toppings

Place a slice of Brie cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt. On the bottom bun, spread a generous amount of red onion marmelade, place the patty, and top with smashed potato chips. Add the top bun and serve.
